Macs

Here is a little study for you... It will only take a few minutes. Open your Bibles to 2Corinthians 8 and read the first 8 verses. Now, get out a pen and paper and list everything you learn in the passage about the Macedonians. Notice how they are described, how they gave to others, etc. What were their priorities? Now, just to let me know you have completed this study (I am watching who participates), write a brief (one sentance is fine) comment on what you learned.

just because the macedonians didnt give a lot doesn't mean anything- they gave all they had. paul mentions their giving to encourage the corinthian churches to give.

The Macedonians did not have a lot, infact it states that they were in extreme poverty, but yet they gave everything they had... they gave themselves to God first, then to all others who were smaller priorities in a sense (I hope that makes sense). Paul uses this as an example to show how even the poorest of people have a great desire to serve and give to God.

The Macedonians are pretty much incredible. They had joy in the Lord despite their severe trials- which shows a lot of faith, and they gave all they could and more in earnestness- they didnt give because they had to, but through their own will.

The Macedonians were extremely poor but they gave all they had. They served God by serving others even though they had hardly anything to give.

The generous church of Macedonia focused first on God and then on his leaders here, Paul and Titus, being more joyous than was expected due to their circumstances, and more generous than most even in their poverty. Paul uses this example in order to demonstrate what a successful church does, and to give a suggestion to the church in Corinth.

one thingthatreally jumped out at me was verse 5, because i feel that we as youth commision get so caught up into service of the youth ministers the speakers and even thekids that we forget thekey element that our first priority is to serve God. and he takes more pleasure in that we serve him than eachother.

Well... I think this passage shows us the importance of giving all that we have - even when we have hardly anything - and enjoying it! It could mean a woman washing jesus's feet with her hair and the rich perfume she had... or the many other examples of Christ's followers giving little compared to others yet it was all they had to give. It could also be applied to us in that we joyfully give all that we can to God - whether it be time, money, service, or all of these! (< best choice)
